Welcome To Movies Make the Meal

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Movies Make the Meal. We are absolutely thrilled that you’ve stopped by and we hope you find some useful recipes and movies to watch.

I am Jen, a former film student and a movie aficionado, series freak. writer and podcast host,  who loves to share her passion for story through media with the world. I am often joined in the kitchen by my adult children, and some close friends. Our love of creating theme nights, evolved into this site, and it is my honor to share it with you.

I’m not a professional cook, or artist (sorry if that shows!) but I do enjoy cooking and experimenting with flavors. To be be fair, my strength is in the movie to food idea implementation, and in spinning classic dishes with some movie or tv show flare.

The Process

Watch

Of course the first thing I do is watch. Some movies or shows I’ve seen before, and a re-viewing always helps. It’s amazing how much detail you can see when you watching something a second, third,  or ( in the case of Bridge on the River Kwai and Lord of the Rings), 50th time.

Are Your Videos AI?

Some of our animations are AI generated from my recipe storyboard ideas. (Using Google Flow) I am trying to balance the use of AI in video making and the environment, so I contribute to the Arbor Day Foundation to offset my environmental footprint. It’s not a perfect world, or solution, but I’m trying to be very conscientious about how this site uses technology.  I NEVER USE AI for recipe creation! These are all tested  in the Cinema Chef kitchen!

Wordsmith a Food Idea

The next step is thinking about the movie idea or title, or some detail within the movie that fits a dish, drink, or snack. Puns are rampant as are play on words, so watch out for them. A movie about Les Miserable might turn into Cosette’s Castle in the Sky Crumpets or a movie like The Car could turn into  a “Car-damom ” banana shake. I think food should be fun, even if the recipes are a spin of something basic.

We’re Always Changing to Stay Current!

Our theme night, recipes and movies are often taken from past media, but we do our fair share of current movies and shows on now. A lot of my inspiration comes from the podcasts I participate on. Cinema du Fromage, The Spotlight, Pilot Season and several others are often featured content creation for this site.

To that end, if you are interested in a show, please let us know and we’ll do our best to cover it.

People often ask, “What kind of food do you like cooking best?” The answer is, any food I feel inspired to make. Having said that, I love Italian / American food the most ( not a great match for someone on a low carb diet!), but I also enjoy making menus that can be reimagined in a lower carb range.

Additionally, genre wise, I am a horror lover. So you’ll find a lot of that here.

We are ramping up our content on this site, so stay tuned as we get more recipes and ideas for your next movie night on our air.
