It's Fantasy Seaoson - Let's Make Dragon Eggs

Gnarled claws are the perfect addition to any horror movie night watching.

We have called them Witch’s fingers, when braided a little tighter, they can also look like broomsticks. There is always a way we can incorporate this idea into a horror movie theme night.

Gnarled Claws

Gnarled claws are the perfect addition to any horror movie night watching. They are easy to make and have many variations. The braiding of the dough can be done in many, many ways.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 7 minutes
Total Time 17 minutes
Servings: 6 claws / fingers

Ingredients

  • 1 package of crescent dough very cold
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/4 tsp minced garlic
  • |Optional
  • 2 egg whites
  • string cheese in thin strips
  • parmesan cheese
  • marinara sauce

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Lay out the dough in flat sheets
  3. Slice dough sheets into 3 inch strips
  4. Spiral the top of the claw to about 3/4 down. Pull the dough gently to elongate it.
  5. Cut the remaining dough into small fringe stips. Braid the fringe stips and push up into claw shapes, or pull to create longer "fingers"
  6. Add garlic to the melted butter and brush the claws well OR brush with egg whites
  7. Bake for 5 - 7 minutes, checking often. Remove when they are lightly brown
  8. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping

Notes

If you like a sweeter option, dip in raspberry jam instead of marinara sauce
This is a quick and easy recipe we have made countless variations on.
Stuff string cheese strips in the dough before braiding, brush parmesan on the garlic butter sauce, or use a plain butter melt and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar.
