These knives were so fun to decorate with! We knew we’d have to do some slasher movies with them. We eventually chose Halloween, but honestly, any slasher movie would work with them. Cherry filling in the center makes them feel extra bloody.

Slasher Cupcakes – Blood Filled!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 box Red Velvet Cake Mix
  • 1 can Cherry pie filling
  • drops Red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup Full fat Greek yogurt
  • 1 large Egg this is an additional egg to the ones called for on the box
  • 1 tub White icing

Equipment

  • 1 6 count deep (or double) cupcake tin They cupcake tins should be double the size of an average one.

Method
 

  1. Mix the ingredients called for on the cake mix box. with the cake mix
  2. Add the additional egg
  3. Fold in the Greek yogurt
  4. Fill the cupcake tins 1/4 of the way with batter
  5. Add a tablespoon of cherry pie filling on top of the batter
  6. Fill cupcake tin to 3/4 full after adding the cherry pie filling
  7. Bake cupcakes according to box time + 5 minutes.
  8. Let cupcakes cool completely
  9. Ice the cupcakes with icing, and add a small dollop of cherry pie filling or red food coloring then insert the confection knife just into the icing

Notes

Cooking time will vary depending on the depth of the cupcake tins, but should be firm. You can use the toothpick method but check carefully, as the cherry filling might be mistaken for batter.
